Our Community

Santa Cruz Community Ventures

At Santa Cruz Community Credit Union (SCCCU), we are passionate about contributing to lasting social and economic justice. The community development work of SCCCU is implemented through Santa Cruz Community Ventures (SCCV), the 501(c)(3) affiliate of SCCCU.

Investing in Paths to Prosperity

SCCV equips people in our community with tools to achieve lasting financial security and independence. We accomplish this through programs in asset building, financial education, free tax assistance, and lending. Through these programs we are able to help low-wage, working families and individuals build assets including homes, higher education, and small businesses. ChildCare Ventures

ChildCare Ventures is a program that was designed to ensure our local community has the necessary childcare programs working families desperately need. The guiding mission of ChildCare Ventures is to:

  • ensure childcare is considered a vital element of local community economic vitality;
  • facilitate the development of childcare facilities as a part of the economic infrastructure, particularly in low-income neighborhoods, and;
  • support childcare programs as sustainable enterprises.

We believe childcare programs must have access to business management training in order for local childcare facilities to keep pace with the rapid increase in demand. This includes access to technical assistance in facilities development, appropriate loan products, and land use and real estate assistance.

ChildCare Ventures is a program of SCCCU. It is a collaborative effort of the Central Coast Small Business Development Center, El Pajaro Community Development Corporation, Santa Cruz Community Ventures, the Human Resources Agency of Santa Cruz County, and Santa Cruz County Office of Education Child Development Resource Center.
