We've Met the RETURN THE FAVOR Campaign Match, But the Work Still Continues

November 11, 2021

We're pleased to announce that the $75,000 donation-match goal for our RETURN THE FAVOR giving campaign has been met in just six weeks.
“Your donations have equaled a little over $150,000 for essential programs our 12 participating non-profit organizations provide to those most vulnerable in our community,” explained Katie Fairbairn, VP of Communications & Organizational Development at SCCCU. “To meet our goal in only six weeks is a real credit to so many giving people in our community, and we’re so grateful for such incredible support.”
In September, the Credit Union launched its RETURN THE FAVOR campaign with $50,000 available to match donations made to 12 participating non-profit organizations. Once those funds were used, the Credit Union’s Board of Directors approved an additional $25,000 for the match—and that money was used within a week.
“We’re grateful for the Board’s generosity in adding funds for our match,” said Fairbairn. “It has given our members and others in our community the opportunity to contribute to our participating non-profit organizations who need these funds to help those most vulnerable in our community.”
But the Credit Union is quick to point out that the campaign is not over yet. “While the matching funds have been used, we are still accepting donations through November 30, 2021,” stated Fairbairn. “You can either donate through our website, or by visiting one of our branches.”
For this year’s campaign, the Credit Union selected 12 non-profit organizations that aligned closely with its mission of providing economic justice for all. Here is a list of the participating non-profit organizations:
• Community Action Board (CAB)
• Community Bridges
• Diversity Center
• El Pájaro CDC
• Grey Bears
• Housing Matters
• Homeless Garden Project
• Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes
• Pajaro Valley Shelter Services
• SC Volunteer Center
• Second Harvest Food Bank
• Valley Churches United
“We’d like to encourage everyone to join us in donating to one of these participating non-profit organizations from now through November 30, 2021,” stated Beth Carr, President/CEO of SCCCU. “Our goal is to return the favor so each organization can continue to thrive and provide much-needed support to our community.”
You can easily donate online or stop by any SCCCU branch. The Credit Union will accept donations through November 30, 2021.
